Six Weight Loss Basics
The whole purpose of this site is to focus and emphasize the advantages of living a healthy and fit lifestyle. God takes pleasure in the fact that we take care of our bodies. Physical health promotes emotional health which in turn promotes spiritual health. As we live spiritually healthy lives God can use us to impact the world more effectively through us. This is true not only today, but healthy individuals live longer lives and are more effective in their later years.
So, how are you doing today? A very common goal when pursuing a healthy lifestyle is weight loss. Below is a list of weight loss basics. This is an opportunity to focus your attention and energy into producing amazing results by the end of the summer. Put a mark on the wall for Labor Day. It’s about six weeks away and you can produce amazing results in that amount of time.
But, you have to start now!
Here are six weight loss basics:
- Burn more calories than you consume – the bottom line.
- The most effective way to do this is to focus on both a nutrition plan and an exercise plan.
- “Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no sugar.” Keep your fluid intake high (water only), and try to eat at least 4-5 small meals per day. This will help maintain blood sugar levels and keep you from blowing your diet.
- Exercise - interval training and metabolic resistance training (work every muscle group hard, frequently, and with an intensity that leaves the metabolism elevated for several hours post-workout) will provide the most bang-for-your buck. Steady state aerobic training just doesn’t burn enough calories for your goals right now, and body part training will be less effective than total body training for fat loss.
- Exercise three to six days per week. If you are just getting going with an exercise plan start off with three days. Once your body is used to moving again ramp it up to six. Three days of interval based cardio and three days of resistance training.
- Supplements – these won’t make a whole lot of difference. They are only conveniently packaged high quality food. Save your money! Don’t buy these trendy products. Focus on the first five points. I only take a multivitamin. I’m very happy with my results.
